This multi-day Art & Culture Immersion takes us to Mexico City, Valle de Bravo and the Piedra Herreda Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary in Mexico!
Marjorie Leggitt, in collaboration with Lines and Latitude Creative Tours, is pleased to offer an exceptional plein air experience.
Join this small group tour to explore Valle de Bravo, a picturesque colonial town in central Mexico. Enjoy the rare opportunity to sketch and paint within the Piedra Herrada Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary. Each year, millions of Monarchs migrate from the United States and Canada to seek refuge in the sanctuary’s Oyamel forests—offering an awe-inspiring backdrop for artistic inspiration.
This all-levels workshop emphasizes a combination of dry and wet media for field journaling and sketching. Learn plein air techniques including "quick sketching", architectural perspective, "on the go" sketching, in-situ watercolor layering. Through demos and exercises you'll come away with a visual diary of this amazing experience.
